Testimonials
Geeta has all the qualities of a broadcaster: an intense curiosity, a passion for sharing the best bits and a silver tongue. But what I love about Geeta is a particular quality; it’s a combination of fearless individuality, a zest for living and a twisted sense of humour.
–Jessica Grillanda, senior radio producer, CBC
Dear Geeta, what can I say? You’re a star. Amazing articles and fearless. Glad you write for Ascent and happy to know you.
–Anurag Dhir, former managing editor of Ascent magazine
When I was Senior Producer of CBC News at Six, it was always a pleasure to work with Geeta. She is a smart person who truly cares about the people she works with and the viewers who see her stories or segments. Geeta has a great sense of humour and is always smiling. I can say, without hesitation, that I would work again with Geeta if I were given the chance.
–Craig Dale, Broadcast Specialist at NHK World/Senior Producer, Reporter at CBC NEWS
You have a special knack Geeta, in that you were able to push me back in time, extract difficult moments long forgotten, pull out the pain and the pleasure, remain silent when the need arose. You did this with great sensitivity. Vital for me was that I truly felt surrounded, comforted and cared for in the process. That’s quite an art and I commend you, really.
It would be a major understatement to say that Geeta Nadkarni has a way with words… She has an innate ability to tell stories, a talent to pull you in and put you at ease no matter how sensitive the subject: whether she’s discussing environmentally friendly female hygiene products or domestic abuse. Her natural charisma shines both through her writing and her beautifully accented voice.
I attended a green products workshop hosted by Geeta Nadkarni at the Naada yoga studio. I felt I was in the room with a trusted friend, as I have heard Geeta forecast the weather on CBC television and heard her speak of green living on CBC radio. Although I had never met her in person, Geeta soon made us all feel right at home. She explained that she loves interaction from the participants in her workshops and that she wanted us to ask questions and challenge her viewpoints. Her teaching style emphasized getting us involved. Here is an example: when she showed us how to make a fragrant, inexpensive body polish, Geeta had one participant measure out the ingredients and, later, another stirred up everything until it was the proper consistency. All along the way, Geeta let us touch the raw materials, smell the fragrant oils and see how everything fit together. I have been a teacher for 33 years and this is precisely the way to engage people – use all the senses and let everyone be involved! And we were.
As the workshop progressed, we heard how to use homemade exfoliants, polishes and moisturizers. We made each of these under Geeta’s skilled eyes. There was enough of each of the products we made for all of us to bring home samples. Geeta provided the recipes for us to make our own at home and gave us suggestions as to where to buy the raw ingredients like cocoa butter, beeswax and essential oils.
All in all, I have to say that the time I spent at the workshop was very well spent. I learned a lot and had fun doing it.
